Is Alva Link compatible with my heat pump?

Almost certainly, yes. Alva Link was designed from the ground up to work with the broadest possible range of European heat pumps. We support six different connection methods — from deep digital integration (Modbus TCP/IP, Modbus RTU, OpenTherm) to universal fallbacks (SG-Ready, outdoor sensor spoofing) — which together cover an estimated 90–95% of the European heat pump market.

For brands that use proprietary digital protocols (such as Vaillant, Viessmann, Bosch/Buderus, Samsung, LG, Wolf, Hitachi, and others), Alva connects through OpenTherm where available, or through the SG-Ready interface that's standard on 500+ certified models. SG-Ready alone covers roughly 80–90% of the European heat pump market.

And for older or niche heat pumps with no digital interface at all, Alva Link can act as the outdoor temperature sensor — gently steering the heat pump's own logic by "spoofing" the outdoor reading. This works on virtually any heat pump with an outdoor sensor input, which brings our total addressable coverage to approximately 95%+.

All heat pump connections run locally on the device using the six launch protocols. No cloud required. No subscription required. This is included in Alva Essential, free forever.
