What is community-built Modbus support?
Alva Link includes a visual register-mapping tool that lets anyone map the Modbus registers of an unsupported device. You connect Alva Link to your device via RS-485 or Ethernet, open the mapping tool in the app, and define each signal: register address, data type, function code, scaling factor, and unit. Live validation shows real-time values so you can verify everything works.
Once a mapping is saved, it works with all Basic features immediately. You can optionally publish it to the community library, where other users can install it with one tap. Published mappings are rated, and top submissions get promoted to "verified" status.
This means Alva Link's compatibility doesn't end with our official support list. If your device speaks Modbus, someone in the community may already have mapped it — or you can do it yourself and share it back.
