Does Alva Link support Germany's new energy rules (§14a EnWG & §9 EEG)?
Short version: yes. Alva Link works as your home's energy manager — exactly the role these rules reward. The supporting standard (EEBUS) is still being finalised across the industry, but the hardware is already in your Alva Link, so support arrives as a software update, not a new device. Reserving now won't leave you behind.
§14a EnWG — heat pumps, EV chargers & batteries
If you have a controllable device over 4.2 kW, your grid operator can briefly dim it when the network is busy — never switch it off — and your grid fees drop in return. As your energy manager, Alva Link takes one limit and spreads it across your devices, leaning on your own solar and battery, so you keep both your comfort and the discount instead of each device being throttled bluntly.
§9 EEG — your solar
Since 25 February 2025, new solar systems (roughly 2–100 kW) may only feed 60% of their capacity into the grid until a smart meter (iMSys) and a tested control unit are installed — that step sits with your meter and grid operator. In the meantime, Alva Link makes the cap painless: instead of wasting the clipped peak, it routes that energy into your home and battery, so you keep more of what your panels make.
Is there a "§14a certificate"?
No — there's no official certificate a home energy manager can hold. §14a control runs over the EEBUS standard (its "LPC" power-limit use case), and certification for it is still being finalised across the industry. What counts is supporting EEBUS correctly — and that's what we're working toward.
Do I need new hardware?
No — it's a software update. The interfaces these rules rely on are already in your Alva Link, so your unit grows into the rules over-the-air as support rolls out. No new device, nothing to swap.
Just to be clear, §14a EnWG and §9 EEG details are current as of June 2026 and may change if the regulations change. we will however try to change with them if this is to happen and will always push for solutions using over the air software updates to all devices.
