Can Alva Link be hacked? What security measures are in place?

We treat security as a core requirement, not an afterthought. Here's how we protect your system:

  • Encrypted communication. All data between Alva Link and the Alva cloud travels over Encrypted connections. Local device communication uses secured protocols.
  • No open ports. Alva Link does not expose any services to the public internet. It initiates all connections outward — nothing can connect inward to the device uninvited.
  • Signed firmware. Every firmware update is cryptographically signed. Link will not install unsigned or tampered code.
  • Local-first architecture. Critical control functions (fuse protection, load balancing) run on the device itself. Even in the unlikely event of a cloud breach, your home's safety systems keep working.
  • Minimal attack surface. Alva Link is a purpose-built device, not a general-purpose computer. It doesn't run a web browser, doesn't accept arbitrary code, and doesn't have USB ports for external storage. Less surface area means fewer vulnerabilities.
  • Regular security audits. We commit to ongoing security reviews and responsible disclosure practices as our user base grows.

No internet-connected device is immune to all threats — anyone who claims otherwise isn't being honest. But we've designed Link to minimize exposure, keep critical functions local, and ensure that a security event in the cloud doesn't leave your home unprotected.
