Firmware updates are delivered over the air and are always free — for both Essential and Autopilot users. Updates improve device performance, add new protocol support (including the planned Matter support for temperature sensors and radiator valves), fix bugs, and strengthen security.
We strongly recommend keeping firmware current, especially for security patches. We'll never use an update to force a subscription.
We can however not guarantee that we do not have to force a firmware update if it is for security reasons to keep all our customers secure.
