I'm worried about voiding my heat pump's warranty. Is that a risk?

Alva Link communicates with your heat pump through its standard, manufacturer-intended communication interfaces — the same ports and protocols that the heat pump was designed to use with external controllers, thermostats, and building management systems.

We don't modify your heat pump's firmware, open the casing (unless RS-485 wiring is needed at a designated port), or alter any hardware. Using a Modbus or SG-Ready connection is no different from connecting a third-party thermostat or building controller — something heat pump manufacturers explicitly support and document.

That said, we always recommend checking your specific warranty terms. If your installer has questions, we're happy to speak with them directly.
