Can I install Alva Link myself, or do I need an electrician?

Most people install Alva Link themselves in under 15 minutes — no electrician, no special tools. You mount it on the wall with the included bracket, plug in the USB-C cable, and open the Alva app.

The app walks you through connecting to your energy devices step by step. You select your heat pump brand and model, your solar inverter, your EV charger, whatever you have.

You then connect the cables in the box to your equipment and the Alva Link establishes the connection automatically.

You won't need to cut any wires, or touch your fuse box and the steps are easily explained.

When you might want a professional: If you are uncomfortable around cables and/or gadgets in general and you don’t own a screwdriver. The Link will most likely need a wired connection to your energy assets. This is a simple cable run, not electrical work, easily explained in the app but some people prefer to have their heating installer handle it.
